Hello, my prepsters :-) you all hopefully know that since 1996 the High Active Anti-Retroviral Therapy (HAART) marked a turning point in treating HIV+ patients successfully: in developed countries HIV infection is not a death sentence anymore and AIDS is an increasingly faraway nightmare. Then, in 2004 a new drug became available: it deals with Truvada by Gilead, the blue pill made up of Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate and Emtricitabine which led scientists to consider a suitable medication in preventive anti-HIV treatment in 2012.
Today, the roll-out of Truvada as Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP, the use of an antiretroviral medication to prevent the acquisition of HIV infection by uninfected people) is available in some countries all over the world, such as USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa and Israel. In Europe it is so just in France where the NHS provides that for all the men who have sex with men (MSM).
In addition, though PrEP is available privately via clinical trials in UK, recently it was about to be rolled out but NHS funds are declared they are not enough. That's why Porn4PrEP was born: to claim for the preventive medication to all man having sex with men, especially to the ones who make sex their own job. Sex workers, such as escorts and pornstars, are mainly exposed to HIV and the adoption of PrEP could definitively lead this risk to zero. Besides, Porn4PrEP aims to bring the HIV+ stigma down, to promote dialogue on sexual health matters and to focus on the existence of HIV undetectable people.
Next Thurs., October 20th from 8pm, Porn4PrEP is landing in Berlin for the Hustlaball 2016 and I'm gonna join them at the Welcome Party held @Axel Hotel in Schöneberg along with Jason Domino and Alexx Stier to interview LGBT people (pornstars and fans) coming from all over the world in order to exchange views and getting aware of all the pros and cons PrEP could bring whether it got made available even in Germany.
